Why are gold prices falling and will the decline continue?

International gold prices have fallen 26% from the record high of $5595 seen on January 29 this year. Indian gold prices peaked at the same time and are down around 23%. More recently, gold prices which rose to Rs 1,64,773/10 gm levels on MCX futures contract in the last week of August had fallen by more than 10% to a low Rs 1,45,991/10 gm levels last week.
